Most proprietary hospital management software platforms charge thousands of rupees per month in SaaS licensing fees. is a fully open-source, Laravel-powered covering patient records, appointments, pharmacy inventory, billing, and multi-role staff access. However, the upstream GitHub version ships with a well-known sidebar navigation bug that breaks dropdown menus on inner pages.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
QIs ICTHospital completely free to use?
Yes. ICTHospital is published under an open-source license on GitHub with zero licensing fees or seat restrictions. The Hospital Community Edition, which is a patched fork with UI improvements and bug fixes, is available as a free download from the Google Drive link provided in this article.
QWhat is the difference between the Community Edition and the original GitHub version?
The original GitHub version has a critical sidebar navigation bug where dropdown menus on inner pages like pharmacy and settings do not respond to clicks. The Community Edition fixes this with a capture-phase event delegation handler, updates the UI to a modern Royal Navy and Cyan medical theme, replaces third-party branding in the footer, and includes a pre-populated hospital_db.sql dump so you skip manual migration setup entirely.

ICTHospital
free hospital management software
The Hospital Community Edition is a tested, patched fork that solves this bug and adds a modern medical UI with Royal Navy and Cyan branding. This guide covers both installation paths so you can choose the version that fits your situation.
1. What is ICTHospital?
ICTHospital is a production-grade, open-source Hospital Management System built on Laravel 10 and MySQL. It provides full clinical and administrative workflow coverage for small to mid-sized hospitals, clinics, and medical college departments.
The system manages:
Patient Management: Admissions, discharge summaries, in-patient and out-patient registrations, case history.
source_code.zip — Application files (fixed views, CSS, and vendor dependencies)
hospital_db.sql — Complete MySQL database dump with pre-populated data
Step 2: Extract the Source Code
Extract the zip file into your XAMPP web root:
# macOS XAMPP:
mkdir -p /Applications/XAMPP/xamppfiles/htdocs/hospital
unzip source_code.zip -d /Applications/XAMPP/xamppfiles/htdocs/hospital
# Windows XAMPP:
# Extract into C:\xampp\htdocs\hospital
# Linux XAMPP:
# unzip source_code.zip -d /opt/lampp/htdocs/hospital
Step 3: Import the Database (hospital_db.sql)
Open phpMyAdmin at http://localhost/phpmyadmin, create a new database named hospital with collation utf8mb4_unicode_ci, then import the SQL file via the Import tab.
Alternatively, use the command line:
# Create the database
mysql -u root -e "CREATE DATABASE IF NOT EXISTS hospital CHARACTER SET utf8mb4 COLLATE utf8mb4_unicode_ci;"
# Import the SQL dump
mysql -u root hospital < /path/to/hospital_db.sql
Step 4: Configure the Environment (.env)
Navigate to the project root and verify the .env file:
mysql -u root -e "CREATE DATABASE IF NOT EXISTS icthospital_clean CHARACTER SET utf8mb4 COLLATE utf8mb4_unicode_ci;"
php artisan migrate --seed
Step 5: Sync Permissions & Seed Demo Data
# Sync role permissions (required for the original version)
php artisan hospital:sync-permissions
# Optional: populate with sample patients and consultations
php artisan db:seed --class=DemoDataSeeder

Q
Can I run this on Windows with XAMPP?
Yes. Both the Community Edition and the original version run on Windows XAMPP. Extract the source code to C:\xampp\htdocs\hospital, import the SQL file via phpMyAdmin, configure the .env file, and run php artisan serve. Ensure PHP 8.2 is active in your XAMPP settings.
QWhat do I do if the left sidebar dropdowns do not open?
This is a known upstream bug in the original master.blade.php layout file where the jQuery event listeners for the sidebar .dropmenu class are bound too late after 25+ external scripts load. The fastest fix is to switch to the Community Edition, which already includes the corrected delegated click handler. For the original version, add a capture-phase document-level listener in your layout <head> targeting the .dropmenu selector.
QDoes this system support multiple hospitals or branches?
The current ICTHospital codebase is designed for single-facility deployment. Multi-branch or multi-tenancy support would require custom development on top of the existing Laravel framework foundation.
